- Why she is involved in CENTR: To make a long story short, I was asked to co-teach a reading intervention class at Nevada High School 9 years ago and didn't understand why high school students needed a reading class. However, I've learned that many (about one-fourth nationally) of all adolescents need help in reading and aren't getting it. Their inability to read well hinders their success in school and beyond. The lack of reading skills our youth possesses affects all of us as a community in one way or another.
