Students and staff were encouraged to dress up as a famous author or character from a book. The students with the best costumes were Baylee as Jay Gatsby, Courtney as Where's Wendy, Harvey as Where's Waldo, and Will as John Green. Staff with the best costumes were Mr. Ericson as Dr. Who, Miss Kane as Katniss Everdeen, and Mrs. DeYoung as Sappho.
Students and staff were encouraged to post a picture of themselves reading in an unusual location. The student winner of this contest was Ethan. The staff winner of this contest was Miss Kane reading If I Stay.
Teachers submitted pictures of themselves
reading and a little about the books. CENTR turned those items into
poster to put around the building. Copies of the teacher posters are below. Dr. Ludwig also had her Honors English 9 class create posters and post them on the walls around the school.
Classes competed against each other by writing a story based on the content they are learning. Each teacher could submit up to four entries, and the winner was Mrs. Holtman's Spanish II class. The class received juice boxes and an assortment of fruit and snacks. Congratulations! Thank you also to Mr. Ericson for reading their winning story over the intercom.
